Strasbourg: The Must-Sees through Stories – A Sporty and Fun Premium Private Running Tour with Yann, your Officially Licensed Local Guide. Dogs Welcome!
Ready for a unique immersion that combines sport and culture? Let Yann, your officially licensed and passionate tour guide, lead you on a 10K running circuit. Prepare for approximately 3 hours of touring (about 1.5 hours of actual running), depending on the group's pace, and discover the different facets of Strasbourg, a UNESCO World Heritage city.
Forget the classic tours: with this format, you will discover the essentials of Strasbourg in half a day, a journey that would take an entire day on foot! This private group tour (up to 12 participants) is designed to be a friendly and intimate experience, far from the hustle of mass tourism. Every street corner will reveal a surprising story, a well-kept secret, or a little-known historical fact.
As soon as we meet (spot my yellow and black cap or my yellow beanie, depending on the weather) next to the bronze 3D model of Strasbourg’s Notre-Dame Cathedral on Place du Château, you will dive into a vivid narrative where historical facts and captivating anecdotes mingle.
Discover why Strasbourg’s ancient name, Argentoratum, is so evocative, and how someone born in 1870 could have changed nationalities four times without ever leaving the city!
This dynamic tour is designed for intermediate-level runners, at a moderate pace of approximately 1.5 hours of running. The rest of the time is devoted to breaks, during which you will delve into the city's history through my commentary and anecdotes.
Your Sporty Discovery Program:
From the Cathedral to Parc de l'Orangerie (Approx. 4K)
We begin our course gently toward the magnificent Parc de l'Orangerie. We will run along the quays of the boatmen and fishermen, admiring the imposing Palais Universitaire ( University Palace ) before traversing the green Avenue de la Forêt-Noire. During this section, I will reveal the anecdotes of the Cathedral and the city center before crossing the park to reach Palais de l'Europe ( Palace of Europe ).
From European Institutions to the Neustadt (Approx. 3.3K)
This stage is dedicated to the European institutions and the Imperial Quarter. We will pass Palais de l'Europe ( Palace of Europe ), the Parliament, and the European Court of Human Rights, then slip into the surprising Ungemach Garden City. We will take Quai Rouget de Lisle up to Saint Paul's Church, a neo-Gothic jewel on the water. Finally, Avenue de la Liberté will lead us to Place de la République ( Republic Square ), where you will discover the history of great imperial monuments like Palais du Rhin ( Palace of the Rhine ) and the National Library.
The Old Town and its Secrets (Approx. 3.2K)
We will finish in style with a stroll through the historic center. From Place de la République ( Republic Square ) to Place Kléber ( Kléber Square ), I will show you the origins of La Marseillaise and the history of Strasbourg's guilds (corporations). We will then explore the picturesque Petite France district, with the juicy anecdote behind its name. The route concludes with the defensive works of Ponts Couverts ( Covered Bridges ) and the Vauban Dam, followed by the "Bridge of Torments" for a final scary story.
A Personalized Closing
We will finish our run at the foot of the Cathedral. I will be available for your questions and my best personalized recommendations for your stay. With me, Strasbourg becomes a story you experience and remember.
