Strasbourg: The Old Town through the Christmas Market – A Magical, Gourmet, and Easy Premium Walking Tour with Yann, your Officially Licensed Local Guide. Tasting Included. Dogs Welcome!

Ready for a unique immersion? Let your officially licensed and passionate tour guide, Yann, lead you on a 3-hour exploration of Strasbourg's UNESCO-listed alleys.

Forget the classic tours. This small group tour (up to 8 participants) is designed to be a friendly and intimate experience, far from the hustle of mass tourism. A tasting break is scheduled towards the end of the tour for a moment of gourmet comfort, away from the crowds. Every street corner will reveal a surprising story, a closely guarded secret, or a little-known historical fact.

As soon as we meet (spot my yellow beanie) at the foot of the big Christmas tree in Place Kléber (street side, not market side), you’ll dive into a vivid narrative where historical facts and compelling tales mingle. Your gourmet tour crosses several of the city's Christmas markets.

Discover why Strasbourg’s ancient name, Argentoratum, is so evocative, and how someone born in 1870 could have changed nationalities four times without ever leaving the city!

Your Festive Immersion Program:

From Place Kléber to Place Broglie

We head towards Place Broglie ( Broglie Square ), the first location of the Christmas market, dating back to 1570. Here, the festive scents of mulled wine and sauerkraut stand alongside magnificent Nativity figurines (santons). This will be an opportunity to discover little-known stories about the national anthem and the liberation of Strasbourg in 1944. (We will not linger in the Place Kléber market, but you will have plenty of opportunity to do so before our meeting.)

Rue des Orfèvres and the Cathedral

We will take one of the most spectacular streets for its decorations: Rue des Orfèvres ( Goldsmiths' Street ). We will then reach Strasbourg's Gothic masterpiece: the Cathedral. I will tell you its history and anecdotes. This will be a chance to show you a chalet selling traditional Alsatian pottery (Christmas decorations and utensils), a jewel of local craftsmanship.

Rue du Maroquin and Place Gutenberg

We will wander through Rue du Maroquin ( Leather Goods Street ), one of the most famous streets during Christmas for its decorations. We will then walk alongside Pont du Corbeau ( Raven Bridge ), formerly the "bridge of torments," and the official entrance to the Christmas market. We will take Rue des Tonneliers ( Coopers' Street ) to talk about Alsatian wine culture before reaching Place Gutenberg ( Gutenberg Square ), named after the inventor of the printing press.

Tasting and Petite France District

It’s time for a gourmet break in Place Saint-Thomas ( Saint Thomas Square ), a quieter market frequented by locals. Enjoy a hot drink, a delicious pretzel topped with wheese, accompanied by gingerbread and some bredele (Alsatian cookies)—all local specialties! This will be a chance to discuss Protestantism in Alsace. We will then finish the tour in Strasbourg's most picturesque district, Petite France, with the lively and unexpected fun fact behind its name and the story related to taxes!

A Personalized Closing

We will end our journey in the Petite France district. You will have time left (about one hour) to enjoy the Christmas market on your own or go out to dinner. I will be available for your questions and my best personalized recommendations for your stay. With me, Strasbourg becomes a story you experience and remember.
